KIDV1
She's a bundle of sweetness
and brightness and fun.
The beauty of springtime,
the warmth of the sun.
She's Innocence covered with
mud, sand and soot.
She's Motherhood dragging
a doll by the foot.
She's a composite picture
of giggles and tears,
Of tantrums, excitement,
amusement and fears.
A bundle of mischief
and often a tease
A creature of moods
not too easy to please.
She can capture your heart
with her pixie-like grin
Or chatter and beg till
your patience wears thin.
But obedient, naughty,
mischievous or coy
She's Mom's little Darling
and Dad's pride and joy.
KIDV2
When my wits start frazzling under the stress
Of a three-year-old's contrariness,
I can resist - for a moment or two -
The all-too-innocent eyes of blue,
And harden my heart to the sunny smile
Flaunting transparent infant guile -
If my angry gaze doesn't happen to fleck
One damp little curl at the back of her neck.
KIDV3
Does so much to bring you joy
Adds lots of love to your world
Uplifts you with her smile
Gives you memories to cherish
Has the warmest hugs to share
Touches your heart with her sweetness
Enjoys doing thoughful things
Radiates her own special beauty
and is loved and treasured more with every year.
KIDV4
You're the end of my rainbow, my pot of gold.
You're Daddy's little girl, to have and hold.
A precious gem is what you are.
You're Mommy's bright and shining star.
You're the spirit of Christmas, my star on the tree.
You're the Easter Bunny to Mommy and me.
You're sugar, you're spice.
You're everything nice.
And you're Daddy's little girl.
KIDV5
Kids,
are like kites. You
spend a lifetime trying to get
them off the ground. You run with
the until you are both breathless - they
crash - You add a larger tail - They lift the rooftop -
You pluck them out of the spout - you patch and comfort,
assure them that someday they will fly! - Finally
they are airborne, but they need more string and
you keep letting it out and with each twist of
the ball of twine, there is a sadness that
goes with the joy because the kite becomes
more distant and somehow you know
that it won't be long before that
beautiful creature will snap the
life line that bound you
together and soar as it
was meant to soar
...Free and...
alone.

KIDV6
Once I was a baby boy,
A tiny thing who brought great joy.
Time, it passed as time will do.
The months flew by and now I'm two.
Still, my growing has just begun,
Blink and you could miss LOADS of fun.
You say you want to watch me grow?
Well turn this page. Come on. Let's go!
(for a girl change the first two lines to:
Once I was a baby girl,
A tiny thing, a precious pearl.)
KIDV7
Hold him a little longer,
Rock him a little more,
Tell him another story
(You've only told him four.)
Let him sleep on your shoulder,
Rejoice in his happy smile.
He is only two and a half
For such a little while!
KIDV8
When a child grows up to a point where we can live with them, they decide
to leave home.
KIDV9
Any statement that begins: "When I was your age..." is
not going to be listened to
by somebody under your age.
KIDV10
At some point in life, every one of us, for
better or for worse, sometimes kicking and screaming and being dragged by
our heels, has to become an adult.
